eBay/PayPal security token

I have ordered PayPal’s new security token last week.

I’m not at all sure they’ll stop phishing attacks (especially considering they’ll only be used by a fraction of the users…), but at $5 I couldn’t resist. The token seems to be an OEMed Vasco token, distributed by verisign.

I’m mainly interested to see how well the user integration works, and how it works across eBay, PayPal and maybe even Skype. One of the biggest issues of previous tokens has been that they have either been too expensive or too difficult to use (think smart card readers). Either that, or they have only been distributed by niche players. eBay has an opportunity to change that game, provided that they open up the technology for other web apps.
