Feature request: generic trackback

I would like to talk about a blogging feature that I thing is missing: generic trackback.

I would like to be able to send trackbacks to other blogs without refering to specific posts.

What I would like to do is send a signal to people saying “Hey – watch my post, I mentioned you somewhere!”. Currently this is only possible by refering to a specific post.

Any takers?

  1. MovableType lets you set up trackbacks for categories as well as posts, so I guess you could use that (if you used MT, of course).

Alternatively, you could just use the trackback address of your first post or an ‘about’ post or something.

Downside is that it would be subject to heavy spamming.
