Tsunami pictures

(Via Boing Boing:) Here’s a link to some amateur photos of the waves.

“These were taken by my former roommate’s co-worker who was visiting Thailand,” says Corey Koberg. “I think it shows the force of the water more than anything I’ve seen on TV so far and how truly unaware people were of the destructive power of waves of this size.”

I especially like the sentence on the bottom of the page:

“I don’t know the fate of the people above, but I do know that the fate of the survivors rests in the hands of those who donate.”

UPDATE: As Armin points out, the photos are *not* from the tsunami in question – see here. Which doesn’t make the call for donations any worse…

  4. There’s only one problem with those pictures: They aren’t from the Tsunami and not from Thailand either.

    As far as I’ve been able to find out they are from China and show a tidal bore. The people in those pictures came to watch it, although the wave turned out to be bigger than expected.
