Donating mobile: german operators, where art thou???

Via #mobitopia:

“The mobile telephony service providers in Luxembourg have set up a premium rated short code in order to raise funds for charity organisations helping in Asia after the terrible Tsunami that happened last week.
Donators send an SMS containing as text “Help” to number 4900: the amount of 2 euro + price of SMS will be collected by the operators and fully donated to charity organisations.”

More information here.

I was immediately thinking of that after the tsunami news. How come my greedy german operator, who billed me 18 Euros last month for two (2!) megabytes of GPRS data, hasnt’t sent me an SMS with their donation scheme yet?

SHAME ON YOU!
