So you re-elected him

At least so it seems.

I *am* disappointed, but more than that I’m completely stunned. It looks like Bush even got re-elected with some record results in the popular vote, and the maps on CNN looked overwhelmingly red, much more than the actual result would make you expect.

From a european perspective, this is hard to understand. I mean, what are the achievements that make Bush so desirable?

He spread fear more than any other president (without anything happening after 9/11, even though his homeland security measures are widely regarded to be inefficient), killed thousands of jobs, sent soldiers to a war without any justification (in the contrary – he *lied* to the american people about the reasons), international relations are on an all time low, created a record debt, cut down on civil liberties, accepted torture, disregarded the geneva convention – and yet you want him to continue?? I mean, even if the other candidate were Donald Duck, he’d have a hard time making matters worse.

I’m also afraid of the signal this sends to the world: “see, this is how we americans want the world to be run. We’re all behind whatever Bush does!”

I could go on forever, but it all comes down to one thing: I’ll never understand what happened today.

God help us (or US??).

  1. Hey GadgetGuy,

I followed your site from the B Evolution Website.

I cannot help but comment on your post. No wonder you are stunned, if you still believe the line “Bush Lied!”. It tells me that you gather your news exclusively from far left sources. Bush didn’t lie about anyting.

Iraq had WMDs in the 90’s. The UN spent several years trying to track them down. The UN destroyed many, but the inspectors noted that there were many to go when Saddam made them leave the country. The question about Iraq is not whether Iraq had WMDs, but rather what did Iraq do with them. Obviously your sources of information never allowed you to consider this point…. and your now you’re shocked.

If Bush lied, so did Kerry, Clinton, Albright, Blair, MI6, the CIA, Annan, Putin, and almost every member the UN security council during the 1990’s. Of course your sources of news and information probably didn’t mention that all of this list and most people worldwide believed Saddam still had the WMDs when Bush invaded Iraq. It’s an inconvenient fact and bothersome in regards to brainwashing the media grazing sheep of the world so it was never mentioned in the places where you gather your news.

By the way, i’ll mention this since your memory seems limited. On 9-11 there was a terrorist attack. It cost the US economy around a billion dollar. That cost thousands of jobs. The recession that was well under way when Bush took office in 2000 cost thousands of jobs. The economy has done incredibly well considering these two fact, but I doubt youve heard this from your sources of information. Moore forgot to mention it in Fara/9-11.

As far as torcher and the Geneva Convention, I will cut Bush some slack. You probably haven’t bothered viewing any of the beheadings or the video showing muslims shooting children in the back in Beslan. The Geneva Convention applies to humans. These people are not humans. And if torcher will enable us to stop the horrors that they perpetrate, then I support torcher. One of these days the West will wake up to pictures of a mushroom cloud rising from a western city. It’s probably inevitable. A pair of panties on the head of an Iraqi probably won’t seem so terrible then. If torcher can prevent the mushroom cloud, I say bring it on. Frankly, the horrors of 9-11 were enough to bring me around, but it apparently takes more to make the sheep of the world to open their eyes.

Finally, you counter your own argument when you say that nothing has happened since 9-11 and then turn around and say that Bush’s security measures have been inefficient.

We live in a nation blessed with diverse news sources. It wouldn’t hurt you to occasionally glance at Drudge or FoxNews to see what the other side is saying. I take a peak at CNN and the NY Times online each night. You might be less shocked when the obvious happens again. And you posts about Bush might have some substance. Right now they contain the same illogical rubish that most of the world believes. Fortunately there are 51% of Americans that care about the truth and that take the time to critically examine what is really going on in the world.

Finally, as for signaling to the rest of the world, this election tells terrorists that the US has resolve and that we are in this war for the long run. It signals to old Europe that most American’s recognize them as the faithless scum that they are. They are sitting out of the war with hurt feelings because we ended the cash cow they were enjoying through the UN Oil for Food Program. Calling them allies is stretching the word to its limits.
Finally, this election tells the world “Spain we are not!”

I read a lot of European newspapers from what I see online, Europeans are far less informed about world events then the average American. Media in Europe echoes its government’s position far more then media in the US. Media in the US has conservative outlets as well as liberal. Americans that choose to study both sources get a pretty good picture of what is going on in the world.

In Europe, there is only liberal media. Even sources that claim to be conservative are more liberal then most US media. Europe is a vast continent of people receiving only half of any news story. It is shocking when you think of it.

I’ll close with saying, if you want to understand what happened today, forget what youve been fed by your leftist media sources and Michael Moore. Do some research, the results of this election were preordained by anyone who knows what has really taken place since 9-11. Unfortunately, few people take the time to think critically about what the read and hear. If you think “Bush lied”, or “Bush stole the election in 2000”, it shows where you get your news and it shows that you never think critically about what you hear if it fits your limited perception of the world… particularly the USA.

  3. History lesson to Western Europe.
Please tell me what the US can learn from Western Europe….in the last 200 years they have murdered each other through at least 5 wars. Two wars against Napolean, the Franco-Prussian War, WWI, WWII…we could go back further to your religious wars, 30 Years War, Albegensian Crusade, on and on and on……Now, Western Europe is enlightened with leftists who are going to create a peaceful, prosperous workers paradise……sounds a lot like the Bolsheviks…before they murdered 30 million of their own people.
They didn’t want to anger and confront Hitler in the 30’s so they appeased him with “peace in our times”…….end result 50 MILLION DEAD. Peace was not attained until the US formed NATO and kept our forces in European to keep them from returning to genocide or the pograms they conducted for 1,000 years, the Inquisition and many more enlightened events. Vichy France will not run US foreign policy.
The US has almost 230 years of freedom, creating the greatest country on record and continuing to try to spread the freedom to the world. We helped to stop slavery in the 19th Century, stopped WWI, largely responsible for destroying the fascists in WWII and the communists in the Cold War. We were allowed to fight the communists in Korea and now it is one of the most prosperous countries in the world. We were not allowed to continue to fight the communists in Vietnam, thanks to the leftists, and now they are one of the poorest countries in the world. We don’t want the oil of the Middle East but just the opportunity for these people to live in freedom and participate in the world community. Kuwait proves this.

THERE ARE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD WHO LIVE IN FREEDOM THANKS TO THE USA…….including Western Europe. History shines very brightly on the US. Look at your own despicable history before using the language you do about the US.

  5. If you had made a small effort to understand what I wrote you would have realized I really really do like the US. I just find it a bit hard to understand that a president with one of the worst track records of all manages to be re-elected. On slavery: who started this again, before you stopped it? About the oil: you might want to read this: http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/oil/2002/0228tbwt.htm

Fooling common Americans to vote for the RICH Man’s Party, Republican, goes all the way back to embarrassing the Baby Boomer chicken hawks — that was what Viet Nam was about:

“We were not allowed to continue to fight the communists in Vietnam, thanks to the leftists, and now they are one of the poorest countries in the world.”
