Let’s give Steve Ballmer an iPod

Chris Pirillo will buy Steve Ballmer an iPod, and Scoble will make sure it gets to him.

Is that a good idea? I mean, he seems so happy with his preoccupation, it might actually make him angry and bash Apple more. Or just buy them ;)

  1. He’s a Procter & Gamble guy – it’s not about technology. It’s about getting eye level shelf space, buying floor space (or known in the business by its softer name – slotting) and making sure the delivery trucks are washed.

He knows nothing about technology nor does he care to (“Windows media Player hardware (that his son alledgedly uses) – what the hell is that? I’ll bet his own PR dept is clueless about a piece of hardware called Windows Media Player.”)

He’s not drinking the Kool Aid – he is that guy dressed as the Kool Aid pitcher and he will also jump through walls to prove his point and make you drink.

Handing him an ipod is like handing an ipod to a caveman. He just doesn’t care because to him it’s pointless if it’s better, works better or looks better than anything they have – he doesn’t care. He doesn’t think he has to – they built a whole $200 BILLION company on an OS they bought (DOS) and one they licensed/copied (Mac) – the rest are details.

  3. But wait, there’s more! When you focus on sales, any garbage, lies, innuendos are perfectly fair game. Afterall, it’s free speech. The wonder is that so many folks bought into the microsoft line. PT Barnum must be very happy, whereever he is now.
