Nokia and Visa EU work together to take mobile payments to a new level

Nokia and VISA have announced their co-operation in the field of mobile payments. Another attempt to position the Nokia wallet in a real world payment context. Unfortunately the article doesn’t give away any more technical details (supposedly the wallet now supports 3D Secure authentication), and Forum Nokia also has neither documents nor discussions giving any clues).
I still doubt this will lead anywhere soon – 3D Secure has not really been introduced widely with consumers, so I can’t see the need for a mobile version. The number of potential users for this will be extremely low. I’d like to see statistics on the usage of Nokia’s previous mobile wallet. Has anybody used this as a consumer? Are there even merchants supporting this?
