Apple helps music industry see the light

Stefan Smalla puts it better than I ever could: “Obviously, as reported everywhere, this seems to be the first service to offer music to purchase online with a model that actually is attractive to consumers, but that also has a business model. So far, each service only had either side: Napster and Kazaa were/are great for consumers, but not for business, whereas the music industry-promoted Pressplay, MusicNet and the other services are not exactly crushing under consumer demand. If Apple has done it right, it might just open the way for the music industry to follow its customers into this century.”
Yesterday night I watched Steve’s announcement of the music service. You could actually hear the audience’s jaws drop each time he showed a new feature. And I want a new iPod!
