Apple surprises music industry
“Hitting one million songs in less than a week was totally unexpected,” said Roger Ames, Warner Music Group’s chairman and CEO. “Apple has shown music fans, artists and the music industry as a whole that there really is a successful and easy way of legally distributing music over the Internet.”
So, guys, don’t you look foolish now having spent all your energy in the last few years thinking up new copy protection mechanisms that were broken by 9 year old kids a week later? Imagine what this has cost you, and how much money you could have made if you were as clever as Steve?
And here’s one for Steve: can you imagine what the additional income of music sales outside the US would do to your stock options???
