Web based jailbreak for all iOS devices available

It seems Apple’s relation to Adobe might take another hit – the latest jailbreak seems to rely on a weakness in Safari’s PDF reader. The cool thing is that it does not need any Mac or Windows software to run, just point your iPhone browser to http://jailbreakme.com/.

iPhone 3GS: Jailbreak is GO!

George Hotz has done it again:

“Yes, this is what you’ve all been waiting for. A jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS. And it’s awesome. To get started right now, go to purplera1n.com. Download it. Make sure you have windows(but not 7), the latest iTunes installed, and an iPhone 3GS with 3.0 firmware. Connect your iPhone normally. Click “make it ra1n”. Wait. On bootup, run Freeze, the purplera1n installer app. Hopefully you’ll figure out what to do from there. Best tutorial gets linked to from purplera1n site. This tool is beta. Make sure to have everything backed up before running. Also if Cydia doesn’t show up after running Freeze, reboot.”

To me the jailbreak is not attractive right now (happy with what the 3GS does out of the box, thank you very much), but I’m sure some of you will appreciate George’s work.

Looks like the unlock is not too far away, either, so if you need that, you might want to hold off with any formware upgrades.

QuickPwn 2.1 for Windows is here!

If you want to jailbreak your iPod Touch or iPhone with Firmware 2.1, follow this link to get to the official site.

If you want to get there quickly, just get this torrent.

This was my first time with QuickPwn, and man am I impressed – my iPod Touch 16GB was jailbroken in less than two minutes!

PwnageTool for Windows available!

Via iPhone-Ticker.de: Neiluj1493, a 15 year old french iPodTouchFans.com user, has released version 0.3 of his PwnageTool for Windows.

“The program is quiet simple. Just put the firmware file in the installation directory, run the program and click on the first button (this will build the custom firmware), and then the second button (this will load the exploit in iTunes). Put your device in DFU mode, and restore with Maj.+Restore button and select the custom firmware.

You’re done ! And you’ve got Cydia with the 2.0 firmware !!!

The program is in 0.3 version and support iPod Touch and iPhone 2G ONLY.
The crashes problem are now fixed and you don’t need to run in compatibility mode. “

PwnageTool 2.0 will

  • Update, Jailbreak and unlock iPhones (non-3G)

  • Update and Jailbreak 3G iPhones (no unlock yet)
