GAFYD can’t fetch mails from other accounts – WTF???

Posted by Frank Koehntopp as Blogging

Welcome back!

Now this is getting ridiculous – I’m tempted to pass on Google Apps and go back to “standard” GMail.

Why? Because it’s actually giving me MORE features than the $50 (per account!) premium version of GAFYD!

Background: I’m still looking for a way to fetch the email from my “old” GMail account into my GAFYD premier account. This used to be possible via Seeting / Accounts / Get mail from other accounts. This works nicely in GMail, but the option is simply not there in GAFYD!

My suspicion is that quite a lot of GAFYD users are actually doing this, or have done it when they switched (I read some blog posts of people doing it), and this created a huge load on Google’s network, so they switched it off.
If that’s the case, a quick email (you know how email works, don’t you??) to GAFYD would have been a nice touch.

I started my countdown – if I don’t hear anything on this issue soon this adventure is over.

I found this morning that the fetch mail option had xuddenly appeared in my GAFYD accounts settings this morning. So I took the opportunity to start the download from my Gmail account.
Then 6 hours into the download (half way through… it was very slow!) the options had suddenly vanished and the pop download aborted.
Very annoying, they could have at least let it finish!
