Bruce Schneier on Identity Theft

In an interview with “Government Technology”:

“”Identity theft” doesn’t make sense as a term. Your identity is the only thing about you that cannot be stolen. The real crime is fraud due to impersonation. Even worse, by calling it “identity theft,” we naturally focus on the wrong solution: making personal information harder to steal.

We need to make personal information less valuable, harder to use. By calling the crime what it really is, it’s more obvious where the solutions lie.”

More truth in the rest of the interview…

IRA orders end to armed campaign

Guardian Unlimited: IRA orders end to armed campaign

Whoa, this is big. (If they act upon it)

The IRA said in its statement: “The leadership of [the IRA] has formally ordered an end to the armed campaign. This will take effect from 4pm this afternoon.

“All IRA units have been ordered to dump arms. All volunteers have been instructed to assist the development of purely political and democratic programmes through exclusively peaceful means.

“Volunteers must not engage in any other activities whatsoever.”

I so hope this will work out – the irish people deserves peace, after all that time…

A word to the british government: give them the benefit of the doubt – let democracy reign.

Want to see Bill Gates speechless?

He can’t even appreciate getting credited for an invention!.

(Side note: even *that* wasn’t an invention by Microsoft – did they come up with anything at all???)

Marco Boerries does it again: Yahoo buys VerdiSoft mobile syncing company

That guy must be insanely rich by now – first he founds StarDivision and manages to sell it to Sun, now his latest company gets acquired by Yahoo.

Congrats! As you know, I welcome *any* progress in the syncng arena…

The broken locks: Kryptonite speaks

Naked Conversations have an interview with Donna M. Tocci, Kryptonite’s PR manager, trying to explain how busy they were and why they acted the way they did.

Still a rather lame excuse, I’d say.

Cruisebox – Tell the FCC to stick it

Heard that on the Daily Source Code today – that song ROCKS!

Get it via the artists’ page, rather than using Adam’s broken podshow.com links (they link to the Podsafe Music Network, but to a login page rather than the song page).
