That’s german for “short time work”, and that’s hitting more and more german employees nowadays. (for those of you unfamiliar with the term: that means you’re being sent home with less pay for that time). Basically, you’re a freelancer paid by the state (33 to 40 % less than your normal wage) until your employer calls you back when there’s enough work.
Times are bad economically, but there are signs they’re getting better (increasing number of recruiters calling, for exapmple ;) ). It also doesn’t seem to be a german phenomenom only, as Russ and David don’t seem to be much better off.
